Automated Lubricators - how to guarantee in-time lubrication

This one time at the fair...

I warned you already, there will be more posts from my recent experiences at the fair.

One of the installations I found very interesting and that I yet have to come across on board, is the automated lubrication systems.

I've had a long and good conversation with the people from Gruetzner GmbH at their booth. (Thank you for your patience and answering all my questions).

And I really liked their #GLube system. Unfortunately, I've never seen anything alike aboard.

Although I'm sure there would be so many benefits for all involved

• Enhanced efficiency (my Favorite): The crew is not wasting time anymore searching for the right grease gun, lubricator, and lubricants. Especially for crew new on board, that work on a machine for the first time, this job is costing a lot of time. For up to 12 month, the crew just needs to do a visual check of the lubrication system and only act if any faults are detected.
• Life-prolonging: Regular automated lubrication of the crucial moving parts in your washing machines, HVAC systems, garbage handling, and everywhere else
• Reliable equipment: Proper lubrication will of course reduce downtimes (also less time wasted for repairs), and increase your guest service by smooth system operation.
• Enhanced Safety: Some lubrication nipples are located in hard-to-reach areas; the moving parts of a system can easily lead to serious injuries and maintenance-related accidents. Which can easily be avoided with the automated lubrication.
• Environmental advantages: Extensive lubrication and spillage on the machine can be reduced, minimizing the amount of lubricant used. Also, the use of refillable cartridges can lead to less packaging material.
• ROI: By minimizing the downtimes, workload, spare part replacements, and system failures you are saving a lot of money. Even if the initial investment for the automated lube system is higher, the long-term savings should be worth it...
  (I’d love to do an ROI calculation if anyone is interested in calculating this for their ship/fleet. 😉)

Automated lubrication systems, can enhance maintenance practices in the cruise industry massively. These systems offer a streamlined approach to lubrication, reducing manual intervention and enhancing reliability. By automating the lubrication process, cruise ships can significantly improve efficiency and minimize the risk of human error.
